Community High School seeks a teacher of Physics and Higher Mathematics with additional areas of competency preferred. (Ours is a small school, and all faculty teach single sections of multiple subjects.) Chemistry modeling has been implemented at our school, and we are open to a modeling curriculum in physics as well.
Community High School is a private, progressive, secular institution dedicated to small classes. Although we are not a conservatory, all of our students are required to take a significant number of arts courses in addition to a rigorous preparatory curriculum. Teachers who prefer sustained and close working relationships with curious and dedicated students are preferred. All faculty at CHS are responsible for developing and maintaining curricula; we therefore seek teachers with demonstrated competency in doing so, and in developing original cross-curricular courses. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds reflecting the economic, ethnic, religious and cultural diversity of the region.
Roanoke City serves as the de facto capitol of Virginia’s Blue Ridge. The metropolitan area contains approximately 300,000 people and is home to a major research university, two liberal arts colleges and a medical school. Community High is located in a renovated Nineteenth Century warehouse in the heart of Roanoke’s historic downtown, a block from the region’s museums of art, science, photography, transportation and history, and from its symphony and equity theater.
Salaries will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Please contact Josh Chapman, Academic Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
