Ray Howanski has spent his entire 34.5 year career in education working for Ridley School District before accepting the position as Executive Officer of AMTA. He began his career in education as a Chemistry and Biology teacher then became department chair. He worked alongside the Ridley teachers to transition to modeling instruction and a P-C-B sequence. During Ridley’s initial implementation of Modeling Chemistry he contributed to the revision of the original curricular materials over a span of several years. After taking on the position of Assistant Director of Curriculum and then Director of Curricular Innovation he worked with Ingrid Waldron, Larry Dukerich, and Ridley’s biology teachers to develop the NGSS Modeling Biology (for a P-C-B Sequence). He has also hosted and facilitated Modeling Instruction workshops over the years as well as a Leadership Workshop.

He lives in Delaware County, PA which is just south of Philadelphia. He is married with four adult children and five young grandchildren.

He looks forward to supporting the efforts of the AMTA community to grow and improve the implementation of Modeling Instruction.
