Dates: July 15 – 26, 2024
Location: University of Nebraska Omaha, Durham Science Center
Workshop: Physics: Electricity and Magnetism
Description: This workshop will help you develop effective modeling pedagogy in the instruction of fundamental electricity and magnetism concepts. Modeling Instruction emphasizes a deep and robust understanding of concepts while emphasizing a model-centered approach. This type of approach is central to effective implementation of the NGSS and/or the NCCRSS and draws heavily from cognitive science. You’ll learn how your students can develop conceptual models through data-driven activities that fully integrate effective data evaluation and interpretation strategies. While content materials will be provided, participants will be encouraged to examine how the materials can be modified, supplemented, and scaffolded throughout their curriculum.
Graduate credit available
Leaders: Judith Stucky and Kate Magary
Housing: Housing is not included in the cost of the workshop.
